Designing Out
Terrorism Conference
This one day conference
featuring a key note address from Ruth Reed, President, RIBA will
explore how we can use design to respond to the terrorist threat and
look at the role of design in creating urban resilience and national
security to ensure that there is protection for our buildings,
assets and occupants.
The conference subjects
will focus on building in appropriate protection, building out the
fortress mentality whilst ensuring that space is usable as the main
the priority. The conference will progress to look at how this can
be accomplished within areas such as airport terminals, shopping
centres or within a corporate headquarters or a hotel or casino.
The Designing out
Terrorism conference aims to be a practical forum and will help
identify what advice is available and how requirements can be built
into the master plan.
Resilience is paramount
in the face of modern day threats and this conference delivers best
practice solutions based upon real world experience.
Building and
Facilities Workshops
External Building &
Facilities Protection
The terrorist incidents
of recent years have amply demonstrated the pressing need to better
protect building and facilities. Structural reinforcement and
external blast protection measures are the prerequisites to
minimising damage and limiting the impact on business operations.
The external building and facilities protection workshop provides
valuable insight into many of the solutions available today to
enable you to reinforce the protection of those inside.
Internal Building &
Facilities Protection
Interior building and
facilities protection are just as important as the external measures
you apply. Given that your most valuable asset is likely to be the
people who work for you, how well protected are they in their every
day work? This workshop demonstrates that provision of a safe
working environment extends beyond the standard health and safety
requirements to internal layout and materials considerations,
provision of safe zones and a range of other techniques to protect
your people from harm.
